Business schools are ranked in several ways, but the only one that is important is how many of the graduates get jobs and how much do those jobs pay. That is generally based on the contacts that the profs have and the contacts that they help students to make.

An ivy league school that doesn’t include internships won’t get you as far as one that sends you out to work with real successful businesses.

    Hi Starscream,

Schools of themselves are simply buildings or institutions. What makes any school great is the experienced, dedicated and qualified teachers employed to deliver the curriculum.

The second part of your question is more difficult to answer because it depends on many factors. The teachers may be all that they can possibly be, however, the students must also be dedicated and make the best use of the training and education that is on-offer. Some would say that a school is better than another if there are a high percentage of students who graduate.

    I hope that helps.

There are many ways to measure quality. Harvard and Wharton are very good at producing MBAs with finance concentrations. MIT is better at technology, Texas is better in taxation. Quality is measured in many different ways: the background of the faculty, the placement of graduates in jobs, the GPA GMAT score of admitted students, the starting salaries of graduates, and more.

Explore the Official MBA Guide. It’s a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. Schools report their accreditation status, tuition cost, number of students, class sizes, program length, and a lot of other data. Schools provide data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees, and much more. You can use the Guide to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria.
