I’m currently 27 and have about two years left to a degree (yikes!). I like writing, but thats always something I can do on the side. I find the various aspects of business to be interesting to me, and have read in several places that the starting salary is high, particularly in comparison to the “liberal arts degrees”. I was wondering, what sort of position could i expect to find with a B.A. in Business Administration, or perhaps Finance? Thanks in advance.

a junior position with a company in one of many fields.
Sounds a little boring so I’m going to guess. . . . . . . .
The Missionary Position?
Cooking Fries at McDonalds
managerial positions
Something better than missionary probably.
managment in a some kind of business
Entry level. After than it will depend on how well you do and whether the company feels you’re enough of an asset to keep on board.
Talk to the career office at your college (most of them have one) or speak with your advisor – that is one reason they are advising you.
You can also look for a job you would like, then talk to people in that field and see what they would advise. What would they look for when they hire someone?
I would think that a generic degree like business admin may be harder to find a job than something more specialized like finance.
In some cases, the fact that you have any degree will put you ahead of other candidates.
Good luck!
You will be lucky if you get a junior/trainee position. Also don’t expect a high salary to start either, you don’t have any business experience at this time, just a degree. I graduated with a degree in math and expected to have companies beating down my door, didn’t happen. The jobs available paid enough to live on, but were junior/trainee management positions. Good luck
McDonalds. . . No but really probably an entry level job as an analyst or management trainee. The best bet though is to get a couple internships and get some experience. A degree alone will get you nothing. It also depends on what part of the country you are in. You must also keep a good credit rating now to get a decent job so pay down your debt as much as possible. Your pay will be a little higher in useful fields like accounting but less so in just a general business admin degree. Finance does pretty well also.
Starting – mid level management. With experience work your way up.
I got my degree in Business Administration with the concentration on Management. I can tell you on the government side that it qualifies you for most entry level positions at a GS-5 to 7 pay grade. The positions available were Human Resources for me. If I could do it over again I would have majored in Finance or Accounting which have higher starting salaries for college grads. I was fortunate to have military experience to help me out.
I recommend you taking at least 12 credit of either finance or accounting so you can be eligible for more entry level business jobs.
