Question by : What is the best thing to major in if I plan to get an M.B.A. at a leading university?
Right now I am a high school senior and I am planning on eventually getting an M.B.A. at a top university (Harvard, Standford, UC Berkeley, UPENN). I have heard that if one plans to get an MBA they should not major in economics, the seemingly obvious choice, and instead major in something like engineering which will be much more desirable for the leading MBA programs.
I do not want to major in engineering, but I was thinking of double majoring in Applied Mathematics and Psychology. I am very interested in these fields but I am not sure if they will put me on track for an M.B.A.

Political Science. You can do almost anything with it.

Most of the major MBA programs require at least a few years of real-world work experience, so you had best get your undergraduate degree in whatever career field you intend to pursue. You might also want to remember that graduate school at those colleges is VERY expensive, so you had better pick a dagree that will get you a decent earning potential so that you can set aside the needed funds. There’s not much earning potential in Applied Mathematics and an MBA is not needed for a career in psychology.
You can get into an MBA program with any major, but you’d be better prepared with a business major, like Finance or Marketing.
Actually, Economics would be a good undergraduate Major for MBA school later.
Technology Management would also be good.
Do not take a Business undergraduate degree.
