Vlingo Expands Management Team, Names New Sales Executive and CFO

Vlingo Corporation, maker of the world’s most popular mobile voice application, today announced the expansion of its management team with two new executives joining the company. Chris Barnett has been named executive vice president of global sales, responsible for growing Vlingo’s business relationships worldwide with handset OEMs, network operators and strategic partners. Thomas Barone has joined the company as chief financial officer (CFO) to manage finance and accounting operations, and the legal, human resources and investor relations organizations.

Most recently, Mr. Barnett served as senior vice president of global sales for Handmark, a creator and distributor of mobile applications and services. In that role he managed the team responsible for partner relationships in all channels, including app stores, network operators, handset OEMs and retailers. He developed distribution agreements with many of the world’s largest wireless operators including Orange, T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T, Telus, and Verizon. Mr. Barnett earned a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Columbia University.
Mr. Barone brings more than twenty five years of financial and operations experience to Vlingo from various high technology software and services companies. He recently served as CFO of Sermo, an online community for physicians. Tom joined Sermo from Relicore, Inc. where he served as vice president of Finance and Operations and was instrumental in the successful acquisition of Relicore by Symantec Corporation (SYMC). Mr. Barone earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bentley University.
