I’ll tell you why people don’t go to University of Chicago, because they can’t get in to University of Chicago.
I think your SAT scores will not hold you back or propel you forward. I had a 2120 and got in. I do not play any sports or have any other outstanding extracurriculars. Honestly, I think the essay is the most important part of the application. I showed I was really interested in learning and had an idea of how I would take advantage of the opportunities U Chicago offers. If you want to get in, stop focusing on your SAT score and start writing that “uncommon” essay. You can get in!
I got wait listed too, I am the captain of the varsity debate team and just made it to nationals in June. Shit sucks
i got a 1500 and got waitlisted essentially the same as denial. I dont mean to destroy your dream, but unless you have some outstanding extracurricular, or are captain of a varsity sports team, you are not going to get in. You would have found out soon enough. I hope im wrong though, best of luck to you.

Care to show those stats? Funny how I spend years of my life looking at those stats and I never found anything that remotely suggests what you say.
Both schools are great, quit fighting over it. It just depends what you’re looking for in your higher education. UChicago offers you many advantages that Northwestern doesn’t, and Northwestern offers a number of advantages over UChicago as well.

This is obviously a bit dated so for those curious about the school, all dining halls (Pierce, Bartlett and South Campus) are now “all you can eat” (though it might as well have “or fit into your backpack without the dining hall staff noticing” added onto that).
Also, they moved the the UChi police station further south. Thus, it has become far more safe than it used to be though we occasionally have battles on the Midway. Always wear your chainmail.

UChicago is obviously a great academic school that you could be very proud of if you are admitted and and a great City to be in. . . I’m from the west coast, I’ll deal with teh weather, but I really need to know. . . while challenging I’m sure, is it fun? Is there a “collegiate feel” to the school? I’m applying there! Thanks!

I loved this video everything was informative the sound track was great as well. UofC sent me a letter and I don’t know if I will get in or not my gpa doesn’t reflect my intelligence and I’m taking the SAT soon do you have any helpful advice?

I’m seriously considering U of C. I had to laugh when you said to stay away from south of the campus. I live on the south east side, and I would have to agree, yet disagree. There are some nicer areas south of the university (which is where I live), but I wouldn’t recommend wandering around Hyde Park at all lol. Another thing, Giordano’s is really good, but smaller hole in the wall kind of places usually have the best Chicago pizza. I really like Ovengrinders. Spoken from a Chicago lifer.
