Question by androo8188: Should I take the GMAT and go to Grad school now, or get work experience first?
I am graduating this spring with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. I am starting to consider my options for graduate school. I noticed that the “avg age” of many MBA students entering grad school is 28 at top tier business schools. Should I still try to go straight to grad school, or get work experience first?
I may only be going for one year to get the Masters in accounting in order to become a CPA

Recently went through the same dilemma. I finished up my Bachelor’s in Acct in summer ’08, and decided to go through my school’s one and a half year Master’s program in accounting and recently sat for all four portions of the CPA exam.
I chose to go the Master’s route right after the bachelor’s because I feared I would never be able to get back into school mode once I was out for a while. Kinda like those people who say they’re “gonna take a year off” from college and never go back . . .
The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to get an internship for this upcoming Summer if you do decide to go the Master’s or MBA route. It’s amazing how different the workplace is from what they teach you.
Let me know if there’s anything else with which I can help you.
