Question by JoJoBaby: Should I get a BS in economics then do a Masters in health administration?
I’m really thinking about doing economics as my undergrad, just to get a base in something business related. Actual health administrators’ opinions are welcome!

My daughter did her undergrad in economics and was going to do a grad degree in health administration. However, am internship at a major big city hospital convinced her that she had to follow her true passion, transportation.
She liked the work but she had issues with the awful medical insurance system here. We moved from Canada when she was 13 and she cannot cope with the idea of people not having insurance.
However, her econ degree led her to job offer with the US government as a researcher yesterday even before she finished her grad degree and even before she started her PhD. She will work at both at once.
So I have to say that you have a good combination there and you will someday be running a major health care institution.
I wish you success. It sound like you have put some thought into this and have chosen something not because it is easy but because you will do well at it.
By the way, after you turn 18, take an Emergency Medical Technician certification. It is 2 nights a week for a semester at a community college. It will pay off big time in learning the medical system inside out. And for helping pay for college, riding in an ambulance with lights and siren going on an errand of life or death beats the crap out of working at Starbucks and is about the most intense adrenalin rush you can imagine.
Plus, it will zoom you to the top when people go to hire you in any medical field.
