Science PhD getting into top business program?

Question by Laura I: Science PhD getting into top business program?
I will be finishing up my PhD in neuroscience next year at a top 10 university and want to go on to get my MBA. I’m sure I’ll do well on the GMAT, but my grades are not great (3.0 from top 25 school). I have 4 years work experience in a biotech lab. What are my chances of getting into a top 5 MBA program?

If you do well on your GMAT, then it will help. Make sure to have good recommendations if the school requires them. Also, you need to have excellent written application. When writing the essays, they have to be good. You need to explain how your PhD and work in Biotech is part of your goal to be Business and why this is not some perpetual student syndrome on your part.

Yeah, not sure what to say about grades. A 3.0 is just barely passing at graduate school. Work experience helps.
Good Luck. Don’t get bummed out if you don’t get into a top 5 . Make sure you apply to some lower tier schools, just in case.
