I am very much interested in pursuing an online MBA. However, I simply don’t have the time to prepare for the GMAT. Should I pursue an online MBA from UMUC which at this point doesn’t require a GMAT? Will this MBA pay off?

You don’t have time to prep for the GMAT, and yet you have time for online classes?

Why not take the GMAT cold? Even if you don’t score great, you’ll at least have a GMAT score, which will allow you to apply to a wider variety of programs.

If your time is tight, then skip the formal prep. Instead, go to a library or bookstore and get the Kaplan GMAT book, and read the first chapter. That’ll give you an idea of the format of the test, and what the test writers are looking for. Then, if you have time, take a free sample GMAT either online, via a book, or via Kaplan’s free test sessions. Take it as you would in real life – timed, straight through with just the one break, in silence. Score it. See how you did. This’ll not only give you your baseline, but having taken the test once may actually improve your score when you take the test for real. Then take the GMAT in real life.
