Question by jrzmommy: Major in Business Management or Marketing?
I am changing my major into the business field, should I major in Management or Marketing. I was considering majoring in Management minor in Marketing Vice Versa…what do employers look for?

Neither, major in finance or accounting. Finance because it opens the most opportunities or accounting because it’s the easiest to get a job. I just graduated from business school with a finance degree. Most of my friends who majored in marketing don’t have jobs. Almost all of the accounting majors have jobs. It’s possible to get a job with a finance degree if you’re an above average student.

If it is between marketing and management then definitely go with marketing. Rarely do recent grads go into management right away without a master’s degree, and management is a very “soft” degree in that it teaches you no real skills that businesses value. At least with marketing you will learn some skills that business can utilize. Employers look for people who can add value to their organization, so if I were you I would study something that businesses can use.
