i want to work as a free lancer web developer until i get into a good mba college in india… so will my work be counted under work experience if i do it on my own( i e. not under any company) . will i be counted under self employment or not?

Yes… IF… you keep pristine business records and make them presentable upon request. Have all the proper permits, licenses and insurances that apply, P&L statements and tax documentation. Get a business named registered and a taxpayer ID # for your business then be employed by said business. When you get to that point you will be a business owner and employee gathering work experience in your chosen field. Self employment only counts (in this instance) if the business is a separate entity and completely verifiable. A website and some cards does not make the business verifiable; legal documentation does.
When you list your work under work experience you will be employed by a company. It just so happens that you own the company, too.
