Q&A: Is it possible to be re-admitted to a University after being expelled 15 years prior?

Question by Acura: Is it possible to be re-admitted to a University after being expelled 15 years prior?
I attended California State University about 15 years ago before being expelled for not maintaining minimum GPA for two semesters in a row.

Is there a way to find out if the 80 credits or so I had up to that point are still valid?

And is it possible to be re-admitted to the same University after being expelled? Or must I go to community college or another university to get my degree?

I would imagine they would re-admit you with an academic ‘probation’ status. I would review their catalog to see what their p&ps are today. I would also meet with an academic advisor to sort out the credits. Most colleges attempt to find a match for older coursework with their current course listings. Again, I would check with the Registrar’s office to see what your options are. It would be better to upgrade your standing at the first University before attempting to transfer to another College or University. Without doing so, you would most likely be put on ‘probation’ status no matter where you decided to go. Good Luck to you!
