Q&A: Is it fair that we lower entrance exam standards to allow more men into college ?

Question by Daa Mann: Is it fair that we lower entrance exam standards to allow more men into college ?
After all they did raise the standards to keep women out.

apparently guys can’t pass an entrance exam for college and university. Now men can’t get a PHd or an MBA. All over the world 60-70 % of Phd’s and Masters are women.
It’s common knowledge ! Don’t you read a paper or magazine or at least turn on the radio.
almost all schools are refusing to do it. C’mon guys. you’re no fun.
No offense to the working man.

  1. Hell's Harlot

I hate to admit it, but you made me laugh.

Source? Oh that’s right you just made that up, so I’m not going to waste my time.

You mean the SAT’s where boys score higher than girls? Or in the GRE’s where the sciences outscore the humanities people by a mile on the entire test, where I scored in the 98th to 75% percentile throughout all sections? You mean that test where the male dominated sciences flatten the non-hard science people including the English and written sections? Most chemistry and physics grad students are male, but you wouldn’t know this flunking out of your liberal arts school’s womens studies program, huh?

Edit: I read, so where is your proof. You make a claim of network TV BS and think it is true. Here’s the data I found:

Doctorates in 2008 in science and engineering earned by men: 19,845. For women, 12,949.

Doctorates in the fruity worthless non-sciences in 2008: For men: 6,426. For women, 9,537.

Just why do you think there is AA in science and mathematics?!?!? There aren’t many women in these fields and the ones that get professorships tend to be serious overachievers and very smart– so they do deserve the positions they get, it’s just that they are specifically recruited.

When the issue was equal opportunity, one could argue that women were “disenfranchised.”

When the issue became centered around “diversity,” (in other words, Universities need to maintain a certain level of diversity), it has to cut both ways. In fact, it should cut ANY way to ensure diversity.

    Sorry ladies.
    :(

I don’t think this has anything to do with gender studies. It’s an economics lesson.

“Hey, guys are getting too dumb to get into our school and incoming freshman class has dropped 20% because of that. That means our school is going to make 100K less this year. We should lower the scores so the dumb guys can get in and pay us money.”

And I’m not arguing the stats on women PhD, that is impressive. But what about the 98% of mechanics being men. Bet that doc can’t realign her own shocks, or build the office she works in.

A lot of men would rather work hard and not have to go to school.

If they wanna help us out than koo

It’s giving more people a chance to get educated.

  6. The Grappler

No. They should just make them more rational, make the education system that allows entry marks less biased towards women, and cut out quotas. Then you could start on getting rid of BS degrees like ‘Women’s Studies’ majors and stuff – and do some real work for a change.

    ‘Owzat?

Frankly, the “system” works very well with women. It’s been known for years that men and women learn differently. So rather than tend to both of the styles of learning, we help women, and that gets a lower male student body.

  8. Rickey

Walk into any hospital most of the doctors are men.

Walk into any corporation and the CEO and officers are men.

Walk into a medical office and it’s guys dusting and scraping your boxes.

    What didn’t men do?

    We know women invented

    the Auto.

    Jet engines

    Tv

    internet

    phone

    computers

We men have a ways to go in catching up to you women.

    Please wait for us.

How do you know its a matter of exam scores and not the huge financial aid discrimination men face?

Change the system of learning and examination. That’s why guys are failing – the male brain’s way of learning is completely different to the female brain’s and currently the system is rigged in favour of female learning approaches.

  12. Johnathan

For all the schools I know the entrance levels are the same if not higher for males.
