Question by Sasha: I’m graduating with a bachelors in December. When should I start looking for a job?
I’m currently completing a paralegal internship, as well as 18 credits, upon graduation in December. I will be earning a History and Paralegal Studies degree in December. (I previously studied Business Admin, years ago). I am in my twenties, and I have a corporate background in human resources, purchasing, customs, and logistics. I live in the New York Metropolitan area where there are so many corporate headquarters. I’d love to work for one of the publishing companies. I would like to work in either purchasing or legal areas. As a full-time student, how do I secure a job prior to graduation? For example, if I was interviewed this fall, how will I explain that I will not be able to start until December? I’d like to hear other people’s experiences. Thanks for any suggestions in advance!

Start in November so that you can get interviews lined up in December. Many won’t take you on until January when all the holiday “buzz” is done.
You should have already started. Business that hire graduates know that you won’t be graduating until the future and will hire you knowing you can’t start until later. Most of my friends had jobs lined up about a month before graduation.
