Question by madhan: how good is an 1 year MBA from UK for fresher?
Hi, I just graduated as I.T fresher (may 2009) and its my dream to pursue MBA for a Post graduate degree abroad. As many B-schools are said to require 3 years plus work experience for MBA I believe I don’t meet the criteria. But a few univ in UK, are said to accept freshers without work experience for 1yr MBA (as opposed to 2 yrs MBA in US)
How good is this 1 year MBA for my profile? Should i go with this or should i rather get into MS program instead?

Just make sure that the school offering the MBA is ACCREDITED. And don’t take the school’s word for it that it is. Diploma mills always lie.
If the school is not on the list of either “Recognised” or “Listed” bodies on this web site…

…then it is NOT accredited. And your MBA must be accredited, or you’re wasting your time and money.
Another reason to make sure it’s accredited is that a shortened MBA isn’t something that most accredited schools would do.
There are no shortcuts. If you can’t get an accredited school to let you begin an MBA program until you’ve been working for a while, then work for a while. Three years is nothing. It only seems like a long time because you’re so young. I’m 53 and three years, now, for me, seems like six months.
Just relax. You’ll be fine.
Also, check out the MBA program at Heriot-Watt Univserity in Edinburgh…

Last time I checked, that MBA could be had by ANYONE, even if they don’t have a bachelors degree, as long as they can do the work. And it’s available completely (100%) by distance learning. And Heriot-Watt is completely accredited.
I’ll bet you could begin the Heriot-Watt program immediately. And, believe me, it is a respected MBA. The three people I know who got one worked their butts off! It’s no walk in the park just because it’s both distance learning, and can be entered into even by people with no undergraduate degree. So if you go for it, be prepared to EARN it.
Hope that helps.
