Q&A: Do I need accounting/economics if I am doing an engineering major then applying to business school?

Question by kingj206: Do I need accounting/economics if I am doing an engineering major then applying to business school?
Do business schools require the accounting, economics, business law, etc classes to get in, or if you do a major that is unrelated to business like engineering, will you still need to take the business classes to get in.

They teach you the accounting, econ, and business law in the MBA program. That being said, think about it this way. If you want to go to an MBA program and you have good grades in introductory courses in accounting, econ, and business law, will you be better positioned to be accepted into that program? I think so. You can probably get in without them, but what can they hurt? The other way to think about this problem is to consider the possibility that you can’t get accepted into an MBA program. Then you will be glad you have those introductory courses in your background, as you will still be prepared to enter business. I would do them as part of my undergrad program. Good Luck!
