Question by ZoSo: Do i have a chance of getting into Wharton or another good Ugrad b-school?
im going into grade 12 and applying regular decision. my grade 11 average was 80% but i can easily get my first semester grade 12 marks up to 85%. i go to a private school, so my marks will be boosted (im not sure how much). i expect to have about 350 community service hours (most coming from a service trip to the dominican republic). i have been on multiple sports teams and clubs (environmental, athletic council, help the society). i have captained a team. i have worked every summer since 2005 (3 years work experience). i have yet to take my SAT but lets say i got 1900-2100 on it.
do i have a chance?

Considering your mediocre GPA, I would say your chances are very slim to none. Wharton is arguably the best undergrad B-School in the country. Many applicants will be boasting 4.0 GPAs, with 2200+ on their SAT, and better admissions essay. Students will also have better leadership roles in their extra-curricular activities.
Also, students think that extra-curricular activities are very important in the college admissions process. Extra-curriculars are easy to pad and hard to verify. The admissions essay is more important. You need to write a killer admissions essay and you just may have a very small chance.
Wharton would not even consider an SAT score lower than 2100. The application pool consists of some of the very best students in the country. Research other undergrad schools as alternatives.
Also I doubt you would have a chance at the other top undergrad b-schools because competition is extremely stiff. You will be facing applicants very similar to Wharton’s applicant pool.

Not really. The 85% kind of screwed you over already. Most of my friends who go to Upenn have never gotten a B in all of high school in any subject. The vast majority of Penn students graduated with a 4.0 unweighted or somewhere very close to that.
Also… a 2200 is probably minimum SAT youd need.
apply there
you dont really know what will happen but its better then taking some strangers advice not to apply when you could have a chance to apply
apply there and to other fallback schools just incase
