A BS in Accounting means that you are are interested in Accounting. A BSBA means that you are interested in Business. I really would advise that you take whichever one would make you happier. The salaries are similar.

Technically, the BS in BA and the BBA are not synonymous.
A BS is a particular type of degree that is liberal arts based (half of the degree requirements are within the liberal arts) but includes a major component from outside of the liberal arts (such as business, accounting, education, public health, nursing, etc…); these are primarily for academic (why we do) qualification as opposed to vocational (how to) qualification.
A BBA is a particular type of degree that is professionally based (about 3/4 of the degree requirements are in the major) and is similar to other professional (non-liberal arts) degrees such as the BEd, BFA, BMus, etc… These are primarily for vocational (how to) qualification.
In the business world, very few employers care which you completed. Some graduate schools prefer liberal arts types for their graduate programs though. Some professional certifications (teaching or CPA are examples) require specific coursework and the degree will matter there.
The difference between the BS in BA and the BS in Acct is in the major course requirements. The Admin student will take courses in all of the business areas in much detail. He may take 9-12 hours of accounting but will also take a lot of econ, finance, org behavior, management, etc… The Acct student will take some of the same gen business courses but will take 30+ hours of accounting.
To meet requirements for the CPA exam, many accounting majors are 5-year (150 hour) degrees.
Salaries: degrees don’t get salaries, jobs get a salary. A person with a BS in Bus Admin that becomes manager at a GAP store makes the same as a GAP manager that has a BA in History – or no degree at all. It’s the job that determines salary, not the degree. Some degrees make getting some jobs easier.
Business Admin is a generalist major that will offer more opportunities but they will often be lower paying. Accounting is a specialist major that will offer fewer opportunities but higher paying than the generalist. Generally speaking, the more specialized the major, the higher paying the occupation but the fewer are the jobs.
Accountants are in constant demand. Generalists are pretty common.
