Question by Sarah: Online Degree: What are the best online colleges to seek a degree from that most any employer will accept?
I’ve been thinking about going to college online but I’m not sure which online colleges are highly accredited & which are not. I’ve done some research online, but let’s face it, all colleges claim they are the best!
I’m hoping to get a MBA in accounting because I know accounting is my calling, but do employers look down on degrees earned online?
There is the highly advertised University of Phoenix & Tennessee has some testing centers here, but how great of an online school is it? Thanks for the help!

Check similar questions on this forum. The consensus is that U of Phoenix degrees are worthless.
Probably the best online MBA is from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, but this school is virtually unknown in the USA.
In North America, the best MBAs are AACSB-accredited.
As for other-than-MBA online degrees, the best, most credible degrees are from schools whose online courses are identical to their campus courses.

I bet online degrees are being accepted everywhere because that is the best way for our busy lifestyles to get a degree. Just inquire at the college you wish to attend as they should have statistics on that information.
Employers are very mixed on this subject.
But to be absolutely safe, choose a school that offers both brick and mortar AND online, that no one would ever question. For example, U of Maryland and NJIT are serious brick and mortar schools that also offer online, although not necessarily in accounting.
Do you know anyone at the Big Four accounting firms? If you do, see if they can ask their Human Resource people if they have an opinion on University of Phoenix.
There are many online colleges which you can take a degree from… But first and most important thing is that you should know that the college/university from which you are taking degree should be accredited..
