Question by alohajen: online degree programs for history, humanities or philosophy?
Every online degree program I’ve seen is for business or nursing or tech-related degrees. Anyone heard of one from an accredited college for the above studies?

Most “online schools” are for-profit businesses, aimed to attract working professionals who are seeking to complete their degrees while remaining employed full time. The vast majority of these folks want degrees in their field of employment, so that’s what’s made available to them.
You, on the other hand, are looking for a traditional (as opposed to vocational) bachelor’s degree in the liberal arts and sciences, which, at this point, are available online on a limited basis, and mostly through the distance learning programs of some few regionally accredited state and private universities.
Check out the state university in YOUR state. It should be accredited by one of these associations:
Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
New England Association of Schools and Colleges
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
Western Association of Schools and Colleges
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
Penn State U, Indiana State U, Kansas State U, Washington State U, Oregon State U, Colorado State U, North Carolina State U, and Utah State U all offer distance education programs. I am sure there are others as well. Just do a search on “distance education” and “Your State.”

Depends at what level you want to do it. I think something called American Public University has programs in History. Norwich University has an online masters degree in Military History. And the University of Illinois Online (it is the same UI as Urbana-Champaign and your degree won’t say online) has a philosophy undergraduate major.
