OEDb: Online Education Database Publishes Online College Rankings
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) February 27, 2007
OEDb earlier today published their first annual Online College Rankings. OEDb’s Online College Rankings 2007 ( http://oedb.org/rankings ) ranks 21 undergraduate colleges and universities that offer most or all of their degree programs online. The overall ranking for each college was derived from data from up to eight different metrics. Grand Canyon University topped the list.
Due in large part to the growth of the Internet over the last 10 years, the face of education is changing rapidly. Distance education programs via the Internet are available more than ever before. Yet, the lack of transparency about the quality and acceptability of the education delivered by online colleges still remains a big issue.
OEDb lead developer Jimmy Atkinson believes that OEDb’s Online College Rankings 2007 will help shed some light on the attractiveness of the most popular online colleges. “While these rankings are certainly not without flaws, it’s a good starting point for what we are trying to achieve, namely to establish an objective system for looking at the overall quality of each of these colleges,” Atkinson says.
