Question by truthseeker: Need advice about Graduate School /MBA ?
I got admitted tothe MBA program at Baruch College in NYC. I also got admitted to a State University in Minnesota (the same university from where I did my Bachelors). But I am confused about which college I should attend.
Baruch’s MBA is one of top MBAs Programs in the nation because of its high quality and I think I like the program. But they are not offering me scholarship which means I will have to take out more loans on top of what I already have from my undergraduate studies. The other university’s MBA is not anywhere near Baruch’s MBA but they are offering me scholarship so that I dont have to pay for the tuition. But the standrd of their MBA program is not up to the par.
Can anyone please suggest me which university I should pick ?

I see from Baruch’s website that they tout the fact they’re the third-ranked program in NYC (or at least they were in 2007) – but when you’re in the same city as Columbia and NYU, it’s a fairly long way down to #3. And 70th in the nation doesn’t mean a whole lot when Fortune 500 employers tend to look primarily at the top 25 schools. In other words, you shouldn’t be basing your decision on reputation, because it’s not really enough of a factor with either school to matter. The question you need to ask yourself is where you want to work and which school will be able to connect you with the employers you want to work for. Do your research carefully, because the answer very well could be neither.

Both schools are ranked far down the pack, and probably not worth the tuition and opportunity cost of almost two years lost salary if attended full-time.
If you’re going straight from undergraduate to MBA, you may even be making yourself less employable than you are now.
MBA from other than top tier schools are generally not worth attending full-time. Go part-time, after first finding an employer offering tuition reimbursement.
