MBA Online degree – which school?

I am looking around for MBA programs online (since I’m really busy working full time, just after buying a new house and adopting a dog), and I really prefer the school to be AACSB accredited and affordable. I’m mainly looking at Colorado State University and University of South Dakota. University of South Dakota is so affordable (around $11K for the whole program) and CSU is still somewhat affordable, (around $24K for whole program). So my question is, does it really matter which school shows up on my resume, whether it’s a more popular/known school or not? (Because everyone seems to know about CSU, but not many people know about USD programs). I also keep getting calls from University of Phoenix, and I’m not sure if I should consider that school. Any thoughts? Thanks!

The University of Phoenix is regionally accredited, but their MBA program is not. So in this case, I would rule them out.

In my opinion, I would decide how much money means to me vs. other “luxuries” a college can offer.
I would look at the faculty, the size of classes, and the quality of the MBA program each respective institution offers. I know it’s online, but the size of the class does matter significantly.

Oh, and I will say this: The University of Phoenix probably has the best online program available. It’s so good, Harvard hired the University of Phoenix to create their online program. So if you don’t mind the University of Phoenix not being accredited (For the MBA), then I would consider going there.

Before you decide on an MBA program explore the Internet for information on available programs. There is a lot of information available. Some sites are limited to specific countries, such as Germany, UK, or Australia. There is a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. The nice thing is that it allows you to find the program that best fits you. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc. ), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc. ), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. Schools report their accreditation status look for AACSB accreditation) , tuition cost, number of students, class sizes, program length, and a lot of other data. Schools provide data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees, and much more. You can use it to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. some of the other sites are less comprehensive, but all are useful.

Yes, it does matter from which college/university you have completed your education. Degree earned from non-accredited college (or in other words diploma mill) is completely ignored so it’s better to stay away from that colleges as they are nothing but a waste of time and money.
Accrediting agencies (approved by US Department of Education) accredits colleges/universities which meet there specific set of criteria. So look for those colleges which are accredited by one of the agency to pursue your MBA. I found this page http://www. thedegreeexperts. com/dg-mba-109. aspx lists the accredited online colleges providing online MBA. You can contact a number of colleges to find the one which is affordable to you.
