Mat- Mba Entrance Exam

MBA being the most preferred post graduation degree of the era, many colleges are offering courses for the same. Students are going crazy for opting a course in MBA, most of the students after completing their graduation, wants to pursue MBA in their respective subjects. Also, because of the increasing demand of the managerial roles, in different sectors, students are aiming for specialisations in their subjects in perspective to management functions.

With the increasing demand of the MBA courses, and more students applying for the course, many new colleges and institutes are coming up with the education in MBA. Before reaching to his dream destination, a person has to face some obstacle and prove his ability to be able to handle such roles and responsibilities, same ways a student before actually getting the opportunity to study the MBA course has to undertake entrance exams. There are many entrance exams for the MBA course, which differ according to the area, difficulty level, and the seats available. There are many entrance exams conducted by different universities to check the capability of the students aiming to pursue MBA. Some of these are CAT, MAT, GMAT, etc.

MBA Colleges give admissions to students on the basis of results scored in the entrance examinations, the higher the percentage, higher are the chances to get admission in a renowned MBA institute. Students are very choosy and finicky about the college for MBA, because the college chosen are the drivers to their future career placements. The whole industry works with the help of each others support, institutes, colleges, students, employees, employers, are all interdependent.

Though CAT is the toughest of the MBA entrance examinations, MAT is also considered to be one of the most prestigious examinations, which a student takes for admissions in MBA. MAT is Management Aptitude Test and almost 160 MBA schools provide admissions on the basis of MAT results. A student needs to be a graduate in any discipline to get himself enrolled for the MBA MAT entrance test. The test is conducted by AIMA- All India Management Association.

Following are the three methods through which one can apply for MAT:

v     A form can be purchased from the authorised centres for form distribution or directly from the AIMA centre in New Delhi, by giving a cash amount of Rs. 980. Forms can also be purchased from Bank of Baroda.

v     Registration can be done online by making payment through credit card, on the website of AIMA.

v     A Demand Draft can be made of Rs. 1050 on the name of All India Management Association can be deposited in any bank, and the MAT form can be obtained.

MAT tests the students on the basis of their problem solving, analytical, logical reasoning, communications, management, planning, management skills, etc as a part of their entrance examination, on the basis of results of which they are given admissions to respective MBA colleges.

Along with the traditional method of taking MAT entrance examination, a new methodology of taking the exam online has also been introduced. This has come into action, looking at the popularity and familiarity of the youth with the internet culture. The two tests will be conducted on the following scheduled dates:

v     Traditional method of taking the test through pen and paper will be conducted on 2nd May, 2010, Sunday, from 10:00 – 12:30 in the morning and the candidates needs to report at 9:00 am his centre of examination.

v     Computer based or online test will be held from 8th May, 2010, during different slots, which would be decided according to the number of registrations, occurred from specific areas.

Some important dates for MAT 2010:

Last date for the sale of Online forms is 7th April, 2010
Last date for the submission of filled forms at AIMA, New Delhi office is 10th April, 2010
Last date for online registration is 9th April, 2010
Last date for the submission of print out of the online submission form is 12th April, 2010
