Masters in Engineering Management or MBA?

Question by Shoaib: Masters in Engineering Management or MBA?
I am a student of 8th Semester Bachelors of Electrical Engineering. I am not interested in doing Masters in Electrical Engineering. I would like to have your opinion whether I should go for Masters in Engineering Management or MBA as I am more interested in these two.

MEM

The MEM will make you stand out. An MBA is nice but it won’t make you stand out any since when out on a job you’ll have MBA on your resume and so will thousands of other applicants. Plus with the MEM you’ll be able to apply to a lot of the same jobs anyway.

My two cents.

Hi shoaib, I recently attended a seminar and got to know about some very interesting and unique programs like power mgmt, energy trading, logistics, aviations etc. As these are core sector programs, they are in good demand in the job market and will help you get a decent job in any multinational organisation with a good package. So, if these programs interests you then, look for UPES,Dehradun as it is one of the university offering these programs and its programs and faculty are famous in pan asia region too.

Personally speaking, the proposed Masters in Engineering Management sounds like the most preferred and wisest of options. Yes, an MBA provides a shorter and more immediate pathway to working with a good paycheque but your Masters in Engineering Management degree will make you a globally-wanted employee. you would be among the handful of people who have such elaborate skills. this is more of a test of your patience rather than comparing the two courses: i seriously doubt there is anybody who is likely to say that Masters in Engineering Management is less valuable or career-centric than another MBA degree.
