Question by September: Looking into getting my teaching degree. Is that the same as masters? Do you take the GMAT, etc?
So, I have my Bachelor’s in Business Marketing, and I have been in the career “cubicle world” for 3 years now. I have decided that I want to go back to school to get my teaching degree. I am hoping to teach 4th or 5th grade. Is a teaching degree the same as a masters? Can anyone explain what is needed for this. Any otehr advise for this career move?

A teaching degree is a Bachelors degree. You will get a degree in Education with Endorsements in Elementary Education. Unless you only what to teach Business to 4th and 5th graders, then you can get an Endorsement in Middle School Business.

Remember, teachers do not get paid well. So your heart has to be in this decision more than your pocketbook.

PS: If you do get a Master’s Degree, you will be eligible to teach at the college level.
