Students of the Ken Blanchard Executive MBA program at Grand Canyon University engaged in a roundtable discussion with Ken Blanchard and Spencer Johnson, co-authors of the best-selling The One Minute Manager, on January 8, 2010.

Blanchard and Johnson, authors of one of the top management books of all time, shared stories from the writing of their classic book and took questions from the class in a casual roundtable discussion. The candid conversation covered a number of topics including an exploration of the value of humility, developing trust within organizations and examining the power of parables to tell stories.

Ken Blanchard EMBA students are executives from all over the US, earning their degree in a 12-month program that focuses on executive leadership. The Executive MBA is taught mostly online, anchored by three residency sessions at the beginning, middle and end of the program of study.

The session with Blanchard and Johnson was part of a four-day residency course on leading change in organizations, taught by Blanchard and top trainers from the Blanchard Companies along with faculty from Grand Canyon University.

Program director Taylor Carr said, “The Ken Blanchard Executive MBA program will teach you how to lead at a higher level while improving profitability and job satisfaction within your company. Leading at a higher level is not only about meeting the bottom line; it’s also about creating a great human organization where employees feel the significance of what they are doing.”

The EMBA student leaders are from all over the country and represent a wide range of organizations including IBM, BlueCross BlueShield, Powder River Energy and the US Secret Service.
