Online MBA’s are a tricky thing. When I hire people, the online part is definitely undesirable verus oh. . . lets say Harvard. . .
BUT, what you can do is realize that you won’t get the full benefits of that MBA until you’ve spent some time at a lesser company and have records of accomplisments.
I guess you’ve already decided and I’ve answered a question you didn’t ask. . .
From an employer’s perspective. . . . no.
i think it is. im not sure though. sorry i don’t know for sure!
Why the prejudice with on-line Universities. We hear stories kids at Harvard who buy their term papers and just put their own name on them.
How can anyone discriminate against an Accredited University.
Although there are still some prejudices against online MBAs, there is also some perks too. It is all in how you market yourself. Did you know several well known top 50 B-schools have online programs? Every school is moving into the virtual campus realm. As with any program you want to pick what is best for you. Some schools are better than others however there are only a handful of schools where this matters. Harvard, Duke, UNC are great schools and the competition among them matters to employers. However, as you progress down the chain it matters less which school you attended to more that you attended school. If you are looking to be the best, chose a top 50 school. If you are looking to gain some knowledge and get a leg up on your career chose a school that best fits you. If it is Phoenix then do so.
Additionally, I would also advise at looking at normal universities in your area and abroad. These schools have online programs but rarely advertise them online. You mave have a school in your state that offers an online program and you will get instate tuition too! Phoniex is not the only choice and if you must chose an online program getting the degree from the state university is a win win for you because you will not have the worry of the possible second guessing of employers. If comes down to Phoniex that is ok too. Market youself in such a way as to show that your experince coupled with the school makes you a great canidate for a position. Make sure you do your due diligence first.
I currently attend University of Phoenix and I would reccomend this school to any working adult! I have heard however, that the online courses are difficult. I have not had the opportunity to go online because luckily there is a campus in my town. I attend class one night a week from 6:00-10:00pm. You should double check and make sure there isn’t a campus near you. I do know a few people who earned their degree online through UOP, and they had no trouble getting promoted or finding employment. Schools that offer online classes seem to get a bad rap! What many people do not realize is UOP is an actual university located in Phoenix, AR! They are fully accredited-and one of the largest universities in the U. S. Good luck to you, I hope this helps!
