Question by Paige: Is it bad to transfer from the university of georgia to georgia state university?
I attend the university of Georgia and i absolutely hate it. I hate Athens and the school honestly isn’t as good as everyone makes it out to be. I want to transfer to Georgia state to be back in Atlanta, but my parents think this is a horrible idea.

Can you be more specific. What don’t you like? Is it your social life? What are you majoring in? Is the department better at GAState? What year are you? You should talk to people who do what you want to do and have been out of school for a while.

It would not be bad but you need to make sure it is the right thing to do for you. If GA State has a better program then go for it, but if it doesn’t then you are not going to want to do it.
I went to a Big 10 school, but lived in Atlanta for nearly a decade.
Just out of curiosity, why would you want to transfer from a solid SEC school to a primarily commuter school?
Paige, I thought I was the only one who wanted to get out of Athens in exchange for State! I’m a freshman here at UGA majoring in Bio-Science and am totally in agreement with your statement about this place not being as it was cracked up to be. I’ve been wondering if I’m making a bad decision to leave the “better” school and live with my friends and study Biology at State. I know though that it is up to the individual and whatever makes him/her happy. Don’t worry so much about what your parents think and more about what is going to make you the most happy. Do that. Maybe I’ll catch you at Bolton and we can plan our escape from Athens. HAH. Good Luck and I hope this helps!
