In general, I say yes but alot depends on what you plan to do. Do you plan to move up into management/supervisory position? Are you looking to get into a more strategic function, financial/quantitative position etc…

A MBA is a big investment in time and money. I believe it is worthwhile. I learned alot from my classes as well as my classmates who were from different functions, industries etc…Opened up opportunities that I wouldn’t have had.

If you’re really only interested in what’s to be learned from an MBA education, then you should visit this guy’s site and see what he has to say and whether or not you agree with his logic. He’s essentially created a “do-it-yourself” personal MBA program that you can follow by selecting the best books to read etc.

    Good luck!

Years ago I took the GMAT test and scored up at the 99th percentile. I could have gone to any B-school on the continent. I didn’t because I consider it intellectually sterile — and that is the least of my criticisms. Instead I did a History Ph.D. and I’m now a professor.
If business interests you intellectually consider a business history program.
