Right now, to be honest, you don’t pick either one. Your preparation for either path can be the same, and still get you to HBS or Yale Law for grad school (neither subject is open to you as an undergrad. You need a bachelors degree first.)

First, obviously, you must go to high school and do very well there, taking all the college prep classes, and getting on the honors/AP track in at least some of your subjects.

Next, go to the best ranked college that fits you well, and major in whatever you’d like there. Literally, you can major in anything that you like, and still get into HBS or Yale Law. Just do very, very well there.

Finally, go to HBS or Yale Law.

By the time you’re a junior or so in college, you should have a pretty good idea of whether you want to go on to business school or law school for your post-grad. Note that, however, good business schools will want you to have 2+ years of full time work experience after you bachelors degree and before you apply to business school.
