Question by noobaz: I didnt realize I could have worked hard in high school to get into Berkeley.What do I do NOW???
I live in San Francisco and I have narrowed my choices down already: SFSU, USF or Berkeley. I will apply to Berkeley, but I don’t think I will get in, so should I go to USF or SFSU or Community College and consider transferring to Berkeley??? I’m looking at a double major, of the following- Business, Economics, English, Chemistry, and possibly others. I like the idea of the undergraduate program at Berkeley Haas for juniors. I really want to be a Lawyer in the future and looking into the joint-degree program JD/MBA. Though I’ve always had determination to go to Stanford Law. Now I know I can progress within any of these choices, I know the costs and everything, and that it all depends on Gpa and tests….. but i need help choosing the right path …WHICH ONE DO I CHOOSE???!!!! WHERE DO I BEGIN???

If you go to a community college, you can use those mistakes that you made in high school and change to make an even better impression on Berkeley, and I’ve always heard that it is a lot easier to get into UCs if you are a transfer student. Out of high school, I probably wouldn’t have been able to get into any school, and now I’m transferring to a UC.

My sister went to community college then transfered to Berkley. If you really want to go to Berkley, start in JC keep a high GPA & transfer in during Jr year
If you want to go to graduate school later, it will be important for you to go to the best undergraduate school that you can get into.
That means something other than a CSU school. Their undergraduates will have a hard time getting into top ranked law or MBA programs. For example, when I was getting my MBA at Duke, there were about 25 students in the program who had a degree from one of the UC schools. There were only five who had gone to a CSU school. Of those, two went to Cal Poly (the best of the CSUs and one had a master;s degree from a much better university.
If Berkeley is out, consider one of the other UCs — perhaps UC-Davis. USF is much better than SFSU — but is also more expensive. If Berkeley is a possibility — go there.
