Question by josuevf: I am trying to get an internship in consulting at one of the big four consulting firms, and tips?
I am currently an industrial engineering major with a minor in Business Administration, Spanish, and Chinese. I am trying to get an internship in one of the big four consulting firms and heard that they are extremely competitive to get into. So i was wondering what are some things that i could do, study, learn…etc. to improve my chances of getting in. After college i plan to either go get my MBA at a top 5 MBA school, or if possible just go straight into one of the big four consulting firms….because of this i would really like to get the internship because once your in, your chances of getting in after college are significantly higher. But, back to my question…What are some skills that would be good to learn or classes that would be good to take to get into these types of companies?
When i said the big four i meant Deloitte & Tourche, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PwC…but also i wouldn’t mind an internship at Cap Gemini, Bearing Point, or Accenture which are all arguably just as prestigious
Also, Does SAT score even really matter. i was under the impression that after college everything was more based on GPA, and also after college the GMAT of course

When you say big 4 do you mean accenture, deloitte, booz and e&y? Keep in mind that there are also bain, mckinsey and bcg which are argueably more prestigious. Basically they will ask for GPA, SAT scores, and will assess your presentation/interview skills and ultimately your ability to handle a case. With the case the best thing to do is practice. Getting to the answer isn’t as critical as communicating how you think. good luck. Check Vault.com for more information specifically on the consulting industry.
Re SAT scores, thats not true. I am 10years out of undergrad, 5 years out of grad school and I get asked for undergrad GPA, SAT and GMAT scores.
