I am thinking about getting an MBA from a decent school in the USA (not top level schools like Harvard or Wharton), more like UC riverside, NYU, etc. But I have a few problems: I have an undergraduate degree and work experience in computer science, do I have to have experience in commerce? I do have a minor in economics though. My GPA is also below 3.0, but is that really important? What are my chances of getting in?

If your parents have money, you need doodly squat in terms of smarts.
Richie is right: If you have money, any name liberal school would be honored to grant you admission and an MBA. There are plenty of good schools all over the country that have good/descent/reputable/recognized MBA’s.
How far below 3. 0? Any accredited grad school will require at least a 3. 0, but will entertain borderline cases. These, however, will be non-competitive grad schools where the fight for available seats to students is minimal, if it exists at all. As the school’s ranking progressively increases, so do the fundamental requirements and GPA is the single most powerful driver. Since you have real work experience under your belt, that will also be taken into consideration, however. And no, no need to have experience in commerce.
