How hard is getting into Wharton Business School?
Question by Matt: How hard is getting into Wharton Business School?
I am a junior studying economics (minor finance) at a top 50 university (Syracuse). I am a member of several organizations with a 3.5 gpa. Assuming I get several years of work experience under my belt (I already have a “top 10 internship”), what are my realistic chances at getting into this school? Are B-school admissions more based on undergraduate work, work/life experience or GMAT scores?
I will probably work for 3-4 years after I graduate as a financial analyst, then apply. Will I even be considered if I only have 3.5/4.0 gpa?

You do know that even though its nice to have a graduate degree you might not even use it, but you would be spending close to over 100,000 dollars just to attend.
I say Give one of your little internships a shot and maybe you could land a job to save the money for grad school.

Reasonable, provided a strong GMAT score. A 3.5 is about average for an elite MBA program. The average Wharton admit has a 3.52 GPA and a 714 GMAT according to US News.
The most important factor in business school admissions is your work experience. This isn’t based just on the name of your company, but also on your contributions at that company–whether you managed projects, worked on significant projects, got promoted, developed analytical and quantitative skills, etc. You will need to obtain recommendations from bosses, write essays about your work experience, and be prepared to participate in an interview about your work experience.
You’ll also need to get strong GMAT scores. A solid undergrad GPA is also important.
However, keep in mind that MANY people with GMATs and GPAs above the medians and strong grades will get rejected simply because there are many qualified applicants and few spots, and business schools are looking for many qualities that are subjective (leadership skills, development in your job, etc.) in addition to academics.
the work experience along with undergradute program will be counted or not?
