I need to decide whether to go for an MBA. I have 4 years of experience in the software industry. What would be the benefit of doing an MBA at this stage of my career.

  1. Karen M says:

To put it quite simply, your enhanced knowledge of business practices should enhance your ability to develop programs that provide business solutions.

The best thing it can do for you is to open doors to new areas so you don’t have to keep being a software professional.

But if you insist on staying in software, what it will do for you is change your attitude about what you ar doing. The majority of software professionals look at their systems as ends in themselves and have an adversarial relatinship with their user groups. An MBA will help you to realize that they — not you — are driving the business, and that your job is to support them — not fight them.

An MBA will help you realize that you should give them what they need — not what they ask for.
