MBA programs in schools like Stanford, Columbia, Wharton, Cornell, NYU, Harvard, Berkeley, MIT and etc.
I am currently a freshman at Oregon State University studying Business Administration with an emphasis in International Business. If I maintain my study habits, I will graduate with (3.8-4.0 GPA). I understand I must go to work for a few years and submit a high GMAT score but I was wondering if someone out there can describe their experience.
1. Should I aim to transfer out of Oregon State (very average school) to something more prestigous (will it really help)?
2. Because of my major (International Business), I will study abroad for 2 years during my undergrad (sophomore and senior year). Can this possibily hurt me?
3. I understand work experience is very heavily factored in, but is it possible to go straight from my bachelors degree into graduate school?
4. If for some reason I am unable to go to a top school, will it hurt my professional career to get my MBA at public univ?

It’s called the diathesis-stress model. This is very prevalent in alcoholism and partially explains why native americans succumbed in greater numbers to alcohol that their european counterparts did.
It’s really about your GMAT score from now. If you get an awesome GMAT score, author a great essay and have some distinguished people write letters of recommendation; you should be able to get into a good MBA program.
A “public” MBA shouldn’t hurt your chances of scoring your dream job. Remember that most of business is based on networking! Some of the most successful people did not go to expensive private universities. They succeed because they have a love for business and great people skills.
Also, your study abroad should strengthen you as not many people are able to do that. Work experience is something many universities necessitate and highly value; however, some do not require it. Charity work is also a plus.
1. If you could get into a better uni, and keep your GPA as excellent as possible, it definitly helps when you applying to top business schools.
2. Top MBA programs always prefer those applicants who have international experience, no matter if your major is International Business or not.
3. Yeah it’s possible. Although most students in top MBA programs have 2 or more years work experience, they still accept 1%-7% applicants who have no solid work experience every year. Most depends on different business schools.
4. In my opinion, top you said means top 10-20. But actually ranked MBA programs are much more than this number. Personally I think if you decide to do MBA, then aim for a ranked MBA program will definite help for your professional career.
