Group Coaching Assists Women in Making a Successful Transition from Stay-at-Home-Mom to Professional Career Woman
(PRWEB) December 13, 2001
Pasadena, CA ÂÂ December 14, 2001 ÂÂ More than 50% of all mothers decide to return to work sometime during the first year after giving birth. Others will wait until their child enters pre-school or kindergarten before heading back to the office. ÂÂThe transition back to work can sometimes be challenging for women who have been home raising their children, regardless of the time they spent at home,ÂÂ says Michele Dortch, owner of ClearVue Coaching, a practice that provides business and personal coaching services to women professionals and entrepreneurs.
Michele draws from her own experience when she states, ÂÂWhen women decide to take time off from their professional career to raise their children, they may not consider how difficult it can be to return to work when that time comes. They have a picture of what their life might look like once they begin working outside the home, but when the time comes to head back to the office, a myriad of unexpected events occur that require their attention away from their responsibilities at work. In order to successfully balance the rigor of work and home, women need a support structure that will make the transition smoother. This kind of support can come from their employer, spouse, family member or friend, but a new opportunity that is quickly gaining momentum is group coaching.ÂÂ
Group coaching brings together a small group of like-minded women who share in a common experience ÂÂ such as being a working mother. ÂÂMany of my clients opt for group coaching because they enjoy sharing their thoughts with others before putting them into action. They find they have a better chance of reaching their goals because of the constructive feedback they receive from women who share in their goals,ÂÂ says Michele.
In her workshop ÂÂTakinÂÂ it from the Playroom to the BoardroomÂÂ Michele offers participants an introduction to group coaching as they exchange useful tips and learn the secrets of successful working mothers. Michele explains, ÂÂI created this workshop so that mothers returning to work have an forum for expressing their concerns, ideas and goals as they take this big step back into the office.ÂÂ
