Gerry Durney has been appointed to the position of executive vice president of Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y. This appointment is in addition to his role of chief operating officer for Bon Secours Charity Health System.

As executive vice president, Durney will manage and oversee the daily operations and performance of Good Samaritan Hospital focusing on quality, patient, physician and employee satisfaction, and lead the hospital to achieve the strategic quality plan of the organization.

A veteran of more than 30 years in healthcare, Durney has extensive background in strategic planning, physician relations, labor relations, clinical operations and information technology. He has a proven record of improving service, increasing customer satisfaction and helping to reduce operating costs.

Durney holds an MBA from the Wagner College School of Business and is a fellow of the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators and a 2005 recipient of the AHRA’s Award for Excellence.

Bon Secours Charity Health System serves more than half a million people in communities within New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey and comprises three acute care hospitals in the Hudson-Delaware Valley of New York: St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis and Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, as well as Good Samaritan Home Care, two long-term care facilities, an assisted living and adult home facility and several other medical programs.
