Fresno Pacific University (FPU) is the Central Valley’s only accredited Christian institution, offering academic programs leading to the award of bachelor’s degree, adult degree completion, master’s degree, certificates, and credentialing programs. It was founded in 1944 by the Pacific District Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. U.S. News & World Report has listed the university on its top tier of all master’s degree universities in the West.

The university has four schools:

- The School of Business

- The School of Education

- The School of Humanities, Religion and Social Sciences

- The School of Natural Sciences

The School of Business offers a number of Undergraduate Majors and Graduate Programs, including the Global MBA program (16 month program), and M.A. in leadership studies.

The School of Education offers the following Master of Arts degrees: M.A. in education; M.A. in TESOL; M.A. in administrative leadership and an individualized master of arts.

The School of Humanities, Religion and Social Sciences offers a wide range of majors that will prepare students for further graduate study, including Biblical & Religious Studies, Communication, English, Liberal Studies, Political Science, Social Science Secondary Teaching, Psychology, etc.

The School of Natural Sciences offers courses in a range of disciplines including kinesiology, mathematics, biology, chemistry, pre-health sciences, and environmental science.

FPU also offers online degrees, credentials and continuing education courses, including the following Master’s programs (fully online):

- Education (MA) – Curriculum & Teaching Emphasis

- Education (MA) – School Library & Media Technology Emphasis

- Kinesiology (MA) – Athletic Training Emphasis

- Master’s Degree (MA) in Kinesiology: Physical Education Emphasis

The university is fully accredited by the Commission for Senior Colleges and universities of the western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

University Ranking:

- Placed in Tier 1 and rated 45th in the Universities-Master’s (West) category (for institutions offering full range of undergraduate and master’s-level programs), according to the US News & world Report 2010.

The author, Loke Yuen Wong, holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University (UK) and a BCom degree from The University of Adelaide (Australia). Other qualifications include the Postgraduate Diploma in Bus. Administration, Diploma in Instructor Skills, Diploma in Inferential Statistics, Group Diploma in Accounting, Group Diploma in Management Accounting, ACCA CertIFR, Pre-Cert (ES) TESOL, Certificate in Managing Performance, Certificate in Book-keeping & Accounts and English for Commerce.

The Master of Applied Arts (MAA) program offers a professional degree that prepares students to engage in the expanding fields of design, media and visual arts within the cultural and creative economies. This 21-month full-time program delivers core curriculum that combines intensive theory and research seminars with rigorous studio classes where students are exposed to advanced exploration in their respective disciplines. The program admits a limited number of students each year to the three streams of the program – design, media and visual arts. Students learn to locate their own practices within broader fields of inquiry through writing projects, critiques of studio work, presentations and an internship. Master students who work in a range of disciplines and come together from around the world and create a unique environment of interaction and exploration. They benefit from access to broad-based resources and extensive facilities in traditional and new technologies. A diverse and dedicated faculty, as well as a host of visiting artists and lecturers, support and encourage individual student research and production. Students acquire a profound understanding of their own practices through ongoing presentation, analysis and critique. In addition, students complete an internship between the first and second year.
