Do I need a degree in accounting to become an accountant, or will the relative credits, alone, suffice?
Question by Sparks: Do I need a degree in accounting to become an accountant, or will the relative credits, alone, suffice?
I’d like to become a certified account. However, I have a bachelor degree in Business Administration (BBA) and I’d also like to get an MBA with a concentration in Accounting and Finance. Will I be able to meet the education requirements to become an accountant with my related credits, or do I need an actual degree in accounting? If it matters, I am from Colorado.

Yes you can, but you will have to go through a long winding road before you can become a CA/CPA.
If you do a degree in accounting, things would be much simpler. You will get a lot of exemptions for CA/CPA exam papers and that itself will fast-track you journey to become an accountant.
Since you already have a BBA, no need to backtrack. I would suggest you to enter a Masters in Accounting program that’s certified by CA/CPA, which would entitle you to exemptions for your CA/CPA papers later.
Some universities also offer programs where you can do Masters in Accounting and CA/CPA certification at the same time. I’m not sure if they have it in Colorado though, you may want to find out.
