Question by Shining Smile: Can I get into top 100 Full-time MBA programs in US?
I have just graduated last Jan and really want to pursue an MBA degree this Fall semester. My GPA is 3.4 and my GMAT is 660. I also have 1 year of working experience. Do I have any chance to get into one of the top 100 MBA programs in US? Could you give me some suggestions of good schools? Thanks a lot.

You probably have a chance because of your GMAT score, but your limited work experience and GPA are not in your favor. You may be better off working for another 2-3 years before you apply. Some MBA programs accept students right out of college if they have good grades and a high GMAT score. Some MBA programs are designed specifically for new college graduates without work experience. But in those programs you don’t get the benefit of learning from other students who have work experience. A lot of valuable learning takes place through class interaction. Also when you graduate your job offers will be about the same as a business undergraduate gets because you have no work experience, and you’ve been two years out of your undergraduate field so it’s hard to get work in that area.
Explore the Official MBA Guide. It’s a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. Schools report their accreditation status, tuition cost, number of students, class sizes, program length, and a lot of other data. Schools provide data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees, and much more. You can use the Guide to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria.

While you may have a chance of getting admitted to a top 100 MBA program in the U.S., you have only a very small possibility of getting admitted to a top 25 MBA program given your limited work experience (it would also be ideal to have a higher GMAT score when applying to a top MBA program).
You might significantly benefit from a few additional years of professional experience prior to applying to business school. The admissions committees at the top business schools will look favorably upon these additional years of work experience. Just as, or more, importantly, these additional years of professional experience will provide you a more insightful perspective on your future career goals and will make your MBA experience all the more rewarding.
Best wishes in your endeavors!
