Question by John: Bill Gates invented Microsoft, but he learned computer programming from others. So why do we only credit Gates?
You often hear, “Bill Gates invented Microsoft.” But, is this a fair statement? If Bill Gates was the only human that ever existed and all the electronic components are around him but he didn’t take a course in technology would he still invent Microsoft?
No disrespect to Gates, just using him as an example.

Because he, like many others, either stole or took heavily from other peoples ideas and ran with it.

Mark Twain and Shakespeare learned grammar from others, but clearly the authors, not the grammarians, deserve the credit for the works they created. Bill Gates make the key business decisions that made Microsoft into the company it became.
