Even after 100 years of genesis, the importance of management education is ever increasing. From the humble beginnings in the US at The Tuck School of Business (founded in 1900 as part of Dartmouth College) that conferred masters degrees in commercial sciences – the forebearer of MBA – the spectrum of MBA education reached all most all the disciplines but for that of pure sciences. Today 500,000 people around the world graduate with an MBA per annum and a large number of institutions teach their own management class within global business. So what do they teach in an MBA course? The two years MBA program hone the managerial skills by providing a broad understanding of all functional areas of business management — finance, marketing, operations, HRM and a grasp of strategy. The beauty of the curriculum remains in the fact that it is collective wisdom of what uncountable number of people has learned over several decades in running businesses across industries. And this curriculum at any B-school abbreviates the learning period of a student.
