Question by Mütiilation: 2nd bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering?
Hi,
I’m a junior majoring in chemistry and minoring in mathematics. I’ve had a change of heart and want to pursue a career in chemical engineering. My school doesnt have any enginering program and I’m a junior so it’s probably too late to transfer now. I’m thinking about getting a second bechelor’s degree in chemical engineering at another school after graduation. If I do this, will I be able to finish it in like 1-2 years?
Someone suggested me getting a master’s in chemical engineering but I’m afraid it’s too research oriented and many chemical engineering jobs you can get with just B.S anyway. By the way, I’m planning to get an MBA after working as a chemical engineer for several years. My overall gpa is just above 3.0..>:( major gpa would be about B+ which is a good school i can apply to with this gpa?

well if you are not into research, get a Master of Engineering in chemical engineering.( versus Masters in Science in chemical engineering) there is no research there. With your chemistry and math minor, you are a pretty good candidate to the committee, just keep your gpa up. your plan sounds good too. however, look at this way.
you have 2 bachelor’s and MBA
or a bachelor in chemistry, 2 masters, master in chemical engineering and MBA
length of achieving either one is the same
but the second case shows that you are a catch, smart and deserve more money than the guy next to you in the job market!!
